Archdiocese of New Orleans has a gay problem

There is something seriously wrong with the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
Namely, they speak with a forked tongue.

How can any Catholic understand what the Catholic Church's teaching is when they look to the Archdiocese of New Orleans' website for answers?

On their website, in the LBGT section they have a (what should be simple) Q&A section presumably to help people understand the Catholic Church's teachings on homosexuality.

For example...here are a few questions some Catholics might wonder about that the Archdiocese of New Orleans completely FAILS to correctly answer.

First up...

Q:  Does a person commit a sin if he/she engages in sexual activity outside of marriage?
(now remember, this is in the LBGT question/answer section)

Answer from the Archdiocese of New Orleans:

You get that last one? "...people who are so predominately homosexual that they will be in serious personal and perhaps social trouble unless they attain a steady partnership within their homosexual lives, one can recommend them to seek such a partnership..."

The Church (or at least the Archdiocese of New Orleans) is RECOMMENDING that in some situations homosexuals need to have a "partnership within their homosexual lives".

There is more to this section:

Head reeling yet?  There's more...much, much more.

Q: Can an OPENLY GAY person be a faithful Catholic?

Now, before I get to the Archdiocese of New Orleans' answer (which if you are thinking is a quote from the Catholic Church's catechism- you'd be wrong) let me point out the key words here "openly gay".  Generally speaking these are NOT the chaste gay folks living chaste and celibate lives.  "Openly gay" usually means having gay relationships and in many cases in a gay union (no such thing as a gay "marriage"- I don't care what the Supreme Court says).

Here is the response at the Archdiocese of New Orleans website which refuses to tell people that homosexual acts can/do lead people to damnation:

Who thinks "openly gay" means chaste gay people who are living celibate lives and support Church teaching?

Here's another Q&A from the Archdiocese of New Orleans...

Q: Does the Bible condemn homosexuality?

You'd think that would be an easy one...not for the Archdiocese of New Orleans.  Seems they believe there is some wiggle room.

Answer from the Archdiocese of New Orleans website:

*there is a much longer answer to this question on the website, but it all says the same thing.

The website gets even worse.

They have a LBGT Catholic Ministry which has a Facebook page.

On that Facebook page they endorse a ministry called "Gay Christians"

..."Gay Christians" is founded by this guy...

John Maddox.  He's not a Catholic priest. But who is he?

He's got a link to his website: gaychurch.org

The Archdiocese of New Orleans' LBGT Catholic Ministry doesn't just endorse this guys t-shirt selling for gay youth...they also have him as their guest speaker after the "3rd Wednesday every month gay Mass"...

It doesn't stop there... apparently this "non-denominational pastor" is also responsible for updating the Archdiocese of New Orleans' website.
Check out whose name appears...

I did a little more clicking around and found...

Billy Seeser and John Maddox are gay lovers/partners according to one of their several gay Facebook pages.

So the Archdiocese of New Orleans and their LBGT Catholic Ministry (per their Facebook page) are endorsing the ministries of John Maddox's "Gay Christians" by asking people to support Maddox' s "Gay Christians" ministry with the purchase of one of their t-shirts AND they have him [John Maddox] as their "positive affirmation" speaker at their LBGT meetings following their gay Mass.

Just what is going on with the Archdiocese of New Orleans?

Why doesn't the Archdiocese of New Orleans answer homosexual questions with the clear teachings of the catechism?

I know why...the LBGT don't like the clear teachings of the catechism, so they seek out other blurred answers so they can continue in their sinful relationships and promote the same with others seeking the Church's answers to these questions.

The Archdiocese of New Orleans website is DECEPTIVE and MISLEADING.

Is the Bishop fully aware of what is being promoted on the Archdiocese OFFICIAL website and it's LBGT Catholic Ministries Facebook page?

I would have given the Archbishop the benefit of the doubt until I read that a GOOD priest in his diocese CORRECTLY refused the Eucharist to a gay "married" man at a funeral.  The gay man then whined (like they all do) to the Archbishop who APOLOGIZED to the man for having Holy Communion denied to him while he was in a state of mortal sin.

No, I'm not making it up.

There is a rot in the Archdiocese of New Orleans and someone needs to clean it up - clearly it won't be the Archbishop.

In Addition:  How about showing the good Fr. Mark Beard your support for denying the gay "married" man the Holy Eucharist?  Send him an email at: sthelenacatholic@bellsouth.net

UPDATE: 24 Hours after writing this post, the Archdiocese of New Orleans has removed the LBGT "fact" page and shut down the LBGT Catholic Ministry Facebook page.

**To those of you who tried the links and see they no longer work and now are questioning whether or not this stuff is true [I did NOT lie about what was on that website] - here is a link to the cached Archdiocese of New Orleans website- you can STILL see it all:
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://lgbt.arch-no.org/faqs&strip=0&vwsrc=0

And here is the Facebook page: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:https://www.facebook.com/lgbtcatholicministryneworleans

This stuff isn't rocket science people, you simply go to "Cache View" and put in ANY website address and you will find it even after it is taken down.

  1. Ah, Julie. It is part of the "Diabolic Disorientation" that is one of the prophecies of our Lady of Fatima given to the three sainted children. Nothing will stop it until the end times. We must remain very close to the Blessed Virgin so that we may not despair. The Church Militant must not be slothful. We must not be lukewarm. We must fulfill the expectations of Our Father which include building up His Kingdom here on earth. Blessings and thank you for the work you do.

  2. The second bullet point In the first excerpt lifts an edited and truncated quote completely out of context from that 1986 document, "in fact, circumstances may exist...which would reduce or remove the culpability of the individual in a given instance." Presenting it like that completely distorts it.

And of course, the Archdiocese will bizarrely then go on to contradict that Vatican document regarding the Bible's view of homosexuality. So, if the Bible don's say it's morally wrong, why IS it wrong? Was it just some edict from Pope Linus XXII?

Re: better a steady gay partner than a bunch of them? Why? Did Pope Linus say that, or maybe it was Aquinas?

It is of course all an incoherent and evil muddle.

If a person were of homosexual inclination, the worst thing they could do would be to believe any of this stuff. In the name of "pastoral care" the Archdiocese is offering them poison and then using their website to invite them to drink it.

  3. Hi Barb.
You are of course 100% right...if we are lukewarm our Lord will vomit us out. We must speak out against these terrible things in our Church- if we don't more people will be led to hell by heretical clergy.

Oakes your last two sentences say it all!
    Well said my friend.

  4. Waaaah! Waahh! [Sob, sob...]

Single straight adults and widows and widowers want special considerations, too!

Why should gays have all the fun?

  5. "There is a rot in the Archdiocese of New Orleans and someone needs to clean it up - clearly it won't be the Archbishop."

...nor will it be this pope.

  6. They have had the problem a long long time. The seminary was not called the pink palace for nothing. I have friends that moved from there. They were horrified to attend a party and see their priest wearing women's clothes and with a male lover. They had to literally get the hell out of that place.

  7. I suppose this reference has a contextual problem too:

"Thou shalt not have commerce with a man as if it had been with a woman; such commerce is abominable. Thou shalt not defile thyself by commerce with a beast; nor shall a woman allow any beast to have commerce with her; it is foully done."
    Leviticus 18:22-23.

This must be a hospitality issue because it appears to put homosexual sex on the level with bestiality.

But I did find the Google Cached version of how it appeared before.

  10. Thank you all for the comments.
I am just happy that the Archdiocese took down the deceptive "information" they were misleading people with.

We can only hope they put an end to their LBGT "ministry" which is clearly NOT about helping LBGT people live their lives according to the Catholic Faith, but rather according to secular society. This does not help LBGT people, it harms them.

I pray this Archdiocese and any others like them put an end to this sort of thing.

    In Christ,

  11. It is difficult enough reining in the recalcitrant liberals outside of the Church (mainly the demonic Democratic party). When we must fight those who purport to be Catholics in our own dioceses, including priests and bishops, it would seem hopeless. We know we win with Christ in the end but the battle is raging visibly and invisibly. Thanks, Liam, for the Fr. Z reference. I am heartened by his support and by the fact that he doesn't mince words. Would that more priests address the atrocities head on. I love his wit, lol.

  12. I am so saddened by this post. New Orleans is my home. I now live in Tennessee. New Orleans is a very wonderfully Faith-filled place, contrasted by a lot of evil. I have been blessed to grow up knowing countless wonderful priests, deacons, religious. I have known of some of these deeply troubling issues as well. I pray that the Church will not "be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with GOOD." There are so many deeply faithful and orthadox Catholics in New Orleans. I have to admit, the reference to "the archdiocese of New Orleans" followed by many strong, negative comments made me cringe a bit, knowing all the good and holy things that are also part of the archdiocese. I understand your post, of course. Just know that there is much more to the Catholic Church in New Orleans and this weak link is not its entire identity. Unfortunately, it is a loud part of the archdiocese at the moment (as it is in society as a whole). We are called to overcome evil with GOOD. "The Spirit that is in you is greater than the spirit that is in the world" (1 John 4:4). Jesus died to defeat evil, and if we stay on His side (the Truth) we will never be truly lost or defeated. Please pray for New Orleans. Pray for the thousands and thousands of faithful there, and pray for the unfaithful and confused. We all need conversion in one way or another. Thank you for your commitment to faithfulness.

  13. This was posted on the Archdiocese NO website as of yesterday:
"The website and Facebook page for the Pastoral Care of Persons with Same-Sex Orientation, also known as LGBT, have been deactivated. An unauthorized person was able to access the website and post information that contradicts the teaching of the Catholic Church. We deeply regret that this has happened and are taking steps to secure the websites. Our mission is to represent accurately the teaching of the Bible and the Catholic Church and to provide ministry with integrity.
We are very sorry that this misleading information has been posted and has caused confusion."

  14. i'm still looking for the part in the Bible where anyone but me has to answer for my sins. It would be far better to accept and love, teaching through demonstration of values as Christ taught, rather than destroy and disenfranchise. Satan loves the hate.
